He went completely nuts -- kind of like a cat might on catnip only a LOT more noticeably! I actually had to take the tea bag away because he was wrestling with Atom so much. My 2009 Bee Sunflower Movie

This is my Bee movie for the 2009 year. Here we see my Siamese Sunflower -- meaning it seems to exhibit a genetic mutation of sorts. I think the way this works in
horticultural is that the division of the initial impregnated ovary involves a splitting of all genetic material into two primary parts (during what is called "mitosis"). Each part grows into a separate whole flower yet each are joined like Siamese twins.

My single Bee is a bumble bee. If you listen carefully, you will be able to hear him fly away with a big buzzing sound.

I have also shown my 2009 "up to 300 pound" pumpkin. He is not a Max pumpkin, sorry to say. Powdery mildew seems to be getting the upper hand on the leaves as does a major infestation of borers on the primary stem (where it descends into the ground. The leaves this year MAY also be affected by too "hot" a horse manure. They are yellowing a lot.

But I am still watering when I can in all this hot weather and it appears I have a healthy LITTLE pumpkin here. It looks about 8" in diameter.

Bought me a Garmin 305 and used it on the Newington 'Nihilator today. This is one awesome watch. I paid $150 for it. It's only slightly bigger than a regular watch. It comes with a heart rate monitor. And, when you cable it up to your computer after the run ...

If you do the arithmetic for that 1/2 mile up hill starting at mile 1.5 you find it has an average grade of 9%. I have always wanted to know what the grade, elevation, distance etc. etc. was on this stretch. One section of this hill is way steeper than the average.

It's funny about new things ... how they grab you, open you up to new ideas. You now know I'm a "Scratcher," so far "only" an admirer, for I have yet to create anything worth paying attention to.

I have been browsing what mostly waaaaay under 20-year-olds are putting out. What part of creative do you want to immerse yourself in? The first one, below, is little more than a great I guess they call it Reggae song plus an animated background to look at. Realize this: some "kid" drew every frame of this, cartoon by cartoon.

I recommend you just leave this on, as I currently am doing as I compose this, and listen. I imagine I will tire after a while, but I'm probably up to my 10th go thru and each time thru I get closer to the lyrics. Here comes number 11.

It's impossible to explain what I am trying to explain with words only. Best to throw one more example out and then leave it up to anybody who happens upon this to to take it to whatever next level works for them.

"Escape From School " is totally different but, again, by a young kid who clearly has the "creative gene." Try to imagine how much time she spent on this. I'm at level 5. Really hard. The Scratch code behind this is unbelievable. And the various rooms, sprites, etc. etc. are really good.

This is a bit strange, I suppose, but what Yanni says struck me as a very powerful thing the other day when I was listening to an audio tape I have of his Yanni Live at the Acropolis concert. I tried to play it back repeatedly so as to transcribe the words to paper but had trouble getting them down.

Today I got smart. Why not put the tape in my boom box and take a video of it? So the video is really just so you can hear the message. I kept the camera going a bit past the part where he speaks. His music is very beautiful.

I just placed 1 of each (except the "extra credit" two-little-girls-on-package pumpkins and the sunflower seeds) in peat pellets and put them in a sunny window in the kitchen. Books I've Been Reading ...

This post doesn't exactly fit in with this blog but then again, since it's now on this blog, I guess it does.

A strange lead-in indeed. But in a way, it's an excellent example of the kind of thing I'm reading about.

Let's get to the point. The three things I am currently reading are

1. "The Universe In A Single Atom" by His Holiness the Dalai Lama
2. "Quantum Healing" by Deepak Chopra
3. "The Many-Worlds Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics" by Hugh Everett

I will refrain from getting too carried away explaining how I got interested in these works, what I have learned by reading them etc. There are many common threads that connect the three books.

In this "Age of Google" you should be able to learn a great deal about the above by searching on these titles / authors.

I will tell you that I learned about the third entry above when I fell upon a NOVA documentary featuring Hugh Everett's son Mark Everett. Please visit

Many-Worlds Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics

I had never heard of Hugh Everett until I saw the NOVA program. His son Mark is a singer in a Rock Band called Eels and is a totally non-technical guy. If you ever get a chance to see this NOVA show, don't miss it.

Here are a couple of sentences from Deepak Chopra's book that might wet your appetite:

This 3rd generation seed planted by Emma 4-1-09, nurtured by BuBe in cellar under grow lights, hardened off in shed for a week, then transplanted to garden 4-29-09 after checking night time temps for next 10 days. It was a battle in the cellar, as the bottom 4 sets of leaves wilted from mildew. Since in the ground, it is looking purty good!

Since this little one had such a hard start, I would not be surprised if the two new sprouts being nurtured by TcT and Max will surpass Emma's sunflower by leaps and bounds. But we are giving it the ol' college try!

There are 3,600 seconds in an hour and 86,400 seconds in one day. There are 365.25 days in 1 year. Therefore, there are 31,557,600 seconds in a year. If we multiply 186,000 miles by a year's worth of seconds, we come up with 5,869,713,600,000 miles. This is how many miles a beam of light will travel in just 1 year. To say this more "simply," we can say light (in just one Light Year) will travel 5 trillion 869 billion 713 million 600 thousand miles. OK, now that you have that distance in your head, try multiplying that distance by 13.1 billion. This is how far away that object is from you right now (in miles). Lets see, that would be: 76,893,248,160,000,000,000,000 miles. Not your average trip to the grocery store! Tinyc may want to check my math. Thanks for the kind birthday note. Did Lee tell you I'm going to
cross over into the realm of Old-Man-dom? It's pretty exciting actually. Makes me wanna plant a sunflower seed tonight and watch it grow 60 feet tall!

I agree with your version of Narcissus versus daffodils/jonquils, but in MAINE, as you might already know, the Narcissus poeticus is the TRUE Narcissus and is called a Narcissus. Everything else is called a daffodil.

I see by your video that spring has arrived in South Portland! I have daffy envy as my blooms are sparse this year due to mole/vole activity - they had a feast this winter. I guess the bulbs are not toxic to them as they are to us.

Well, this is not going to be written in Tobee, but I just wanted to say that this is one of those puzzles that baffled the heck out of me -- and upset me enough to try to figure it out WITHOUT looking at the sweet answer. I see that Zee spelled backwards is eez (in lower case) and that the translator was the way to go for the actual URL.

So, in a rather direct way I am now taking the liberty to POST the image we have been looking for. Sorry to all those who may be looking for this sweet answer. I wanted to see it for myself -- and to say it was worth trying to find it more than once. Actually, maybe I DID have eezmota (not zeemota, so I should correct myself once again HERE!) So, I guess the real problem was I was using Google to find the sweet stuff, rather than the translator -- as specified! Thanks for the puzzle TcT.
