A Prayer in Spring | |
Robert Frost (1915) | |
Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day; And give us not to think so far away As the uncertain harvest; keep us here All simply in the springing of the year. Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white, Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night; And make us happy in the happy bees, The swarm dilating round the perfect trees. And make us happy in the darting bird That suddenly above the bees is heard, The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill, And off a blossom in mid air stands still. For this is love and nothing else is love, The which it is reserved for God above To sanctify to what far ends He will, But which it only needs that we fulfill. |

TcT, when I translate "Easter" it ocmes out as "Zunday". You might want to look into that. The correct translation for Easter is of course "Eestah"
DeeDee, did you take this beautiful picture? Love it! And the poem - Frost was deeply religious and this poem profound. I think he means for us to accept the purity and beauty of the Spring moment, langish in it as long as we can, and that God has provided all we need, that we just have to make use of His gifts. Thanks for the Spring time Inspiration.
Thanks for the interpretation of this poem!
Easter is now Eestah, as it should be.
Very nice poem, and I agree - very nice interpretation! Evreewun hoo knows ow tah reelee speek and wryte shud kno dat Zunday shud be "Eestah."
I have a question for TSI. Does Sunday remain Zunday, or should/could it be Zundee? Something to ponder.
Correction! "...speak and write in Tobee..."

Thanks for the interpretation of the poem BuBe. I did take the picture. It was taken at a heath (or bog) in Saco Maine, in the spring of last year.
Again, it is a really great photo! You are welcome!
